Beans – Broad
Cooking broad beans is a simple and delicious endeavour. Start by removing the beans from their pods. Next, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the beans for about 3-4 minutes until they turn bright green. Then, drain them (you can transfer to a bowl of iced water to stop the cooking process and maintain their vibrant colour).
Once cooled, you can easily pop the bright green beans out of their tough outer skins, revealing the tender and flavourful inner bean. Now, you have a choice of how to enjoy them. You can sauté them with a bit of olive oil, garlic, and your favourite herbs for a quick and savoury side dish. Alternatively, add them to salads, pastas, or even puree them into a creamy dip. Broad beans are versatile and nutritious, offering a delightful burst of freshness to your culinary creations.
